      Cut Line Differences on B2 Cylinder Panes
 DOP    
      DP22B and DP22C cylinder panes.
These cylinders were originally issued without a horizontal cutting. This may
have been contributory to the miscutting of a number of sheets, resulting in
the inclusion of DP22C in a portion of the 35p SEP'74 issue. Later, a cutting
line was added in an incorrect position. Later an attempt was made to remove
the incorrectly positioned line and a correctly placed one added.
The following is the correct sequence and states of cylinder:
State 1 no cutting line     DP22B & DP22C

State 2 cutting line Row 19     DP22B
Line incorrectly engraved,
only in use for 1 day.

State 3 cutting line Row 20     DP22B
Line in Row 19 varnished out

State 4    cutting line Row 20,
1 or 2 dots of incorrect
line in.Row 19     DP22B

State 5    cutting line Row 19 and
cutting line Row 20     DP22B

States 4 and 5 are the
extreme forms of the varnish wearing off;
there are intermediate forms.

To be sure that a state 2 pane is not a miscut state 5 pane it is essential that the pane is well centred with a full width set of perforations at the bottom edge.
