D23 Printings September 1974 were Inverted (Jumelle Press) December 1974 were Upright
DP23. It had 32 perforating pins around its circumference the additional pin occuring once every 32 stamp rows. The stamp sheet consists of 20 stamp rows (10 book panes) and therefore, the EEH (I3 perf. type) which appears on every 16th pane will appear in the following order. Assuming that the perforator is engaged so that a pane from BOOK 2 appears withthe EEH in the centre row, then the following sequence will result: BOOK 2, 6, 10, 4, 8 and then back to 2 etc. So for that particular setting five different I3 panes will occur from each of the outer columns - i.e. columns 1 and 4. as follows: SETTING 1: 2 6 10 4 8 SETTING 2: 1 5 9 3 7 The following settings are known to have been used: SETTING 1: DP23 Inverted printing (September 1974 editions) SETTING 2: DP23 Inverted printing (September 74 & December 74 editions) SETTING 1: DP23 Upright printing (December 1974 editions)
